Welcome

Bury Canoe Club is located at Burrs Country Park in Bury, Lancashire. We meet most Sundays at 6pm (5pm later in the year) to kayak on the river Irwell or in the training pond. The club is open to non members and we can provide all equipment and supervision for anyone wanting to try kayaking on whitewater.

During the winter months (October ov to March) we practice at Radcliffe Swimming Pool on a Sunday night. This is a great opportunity to improve your roll or practice your support strokes in a warm safe environment.
For the more adventurous (and sometimes mad) we also have group excursions (for all levels of ability) to other rivers around the north of England. Recent trips include visiting the river Tees in Yorkshire and the river Tryweryn in North Wales.

There are three organised social weekends a year at the moment. 2 in the lake district and one in north wales. Also groups of club members go away for weekend trips to anglesey or the tryweryn. Although the club is mainly whitewater, there are those that sea kayak, and the club has a couple of sea kayaks to hire.

We welcome new members, young and not so young, of all abilities
